Situated in the peaceful Lakeland village of Thornthwaite, just three miles from the bustling town of Keswick, Jenkin Hill Cottage is a small, friendly and informal guest house catering exclusively for non-smokers and specialising in the provision of gluten-free meals when required.

We take great pride in producing good homecooked meals, and if you require gluten free, with over 22 yrs experience of catering for coeliacs here is a place where you need not worry about your dietary requirements being met for breakfast or for evening meals, so can enjoy a relaxing holiday in this beatiful corner of England. We even have gluten free Cumberland sausage produced specially by our Keswick butcher.

Thornthwaite Village rests between Thornthwaite Forest and Bassenthwaite Lake. This is, an excellent base for visiting Keswick and the North Lakes, and only a half hour's drive from South Lakeland or the Cumbrian coast, or an hour away from Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall. This is a very popular area for ornithologists, with a wide variety of bird life, a hide for viewing water fowl beside Bassenthwaite Lake and the added bonus of Ospreys nesting just a short distance away.

The village is has the benefit of an excellent bus service, providing access to Cockermouth, Workington and the Coast to the West, and to Keswick and the rest of the Lake District to the East. You can leave your car in our car park and still enjoy great days out.
